Plantation Shutters - Permawood

Parmawood Shutters are constructed with an engineered hardwood and then coated in an ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) plastic. This co-polymer coating is extremely tough and durable making it easy to maintain.A disadvantage of this shutter is that it is the heaviest in our range which limits the configuration options, however on the positive side the coating makes this shutter very easy to 'wipe-clean' making it particularly suited to higher traffic areas and heavier use, for example in a public place. The other great advantage is that the coating makes this product waterproof meaning that ican be installed into more humid environments such as a bathroom without any warping or splitting issues. Permawood Shutters are manufactured using the same high quality techniques as our other shutters and with care will look just as good in the future as they do today.

This shutter is included in our range to provide a solution for customers who would like shutters installed in either a humid room or a place where they are likely to need frequent cleaning. As it has a plastic coating, it is therefore unavailable in any of our stained colours - however given shades of white are by far the most popular shutter choice.... our permawood colour range includes 6 shades of white from pure white through to bisque... a real winner with our customers giving them functional shutters in a colour that complements them well.

Special shaped shutters are available in the Permawood range and can be made for almost any type of bespoke shaped window, for example this includes Fan top (radiating semicircle), Arched, Angled, Horizontal or Radiating Circles, Octagon, Hexagon and Oval. A few examples are shown below...

Other Shutter Considerations

If your installation requirements dictate that our Permawood shutters are the only choice for you, there are a few other options to consider. Don't worry - we will explain everything you need to know before you place an order and meanwhile if you have any questions - we are here to help.

Tilt Rod: Used to control the shutters, normally centred though can be offset to the left or right hand side. The tilt rod can also be hidden, in which case you control the shutters by moving the louvres themselves.
Configuration: Full height with or without an optional mid-rail to match your window, tier on tier, café style or bay window. Find out more about shutter styles.
Frames: Depending on the location of your shutters and where they are going to be fitted we will be able to advise you on the frame options available. All shutters are manufactured with frames that are fitted into your window, door or opening.
Colour: Both in our showroom or if you choose to arrange an appointment for one of our sales advisors to visit you at home, we have samples of all the available colours for you to look at and choose.
